We celebrated World Book Day throughout the school in a number of ways.
Our younger children had a fine day dressed as their favourite book characters and you can see them in all their finery in our Activities Gallery.
The Key Stage 2 children had a morning of 'carousel' writing opportunities focussing on different genre.
We were very pleased to have a visit from Mr Brinsford who has recently published a lovely story by a local author and painter Jack Wilde called 'Mr Pooge the Dragon'. Jack was for some years a Governor at our school and has always supported the school with his artistic and literary talents.
A copy of the book has been presented to the school and a colouring competition is underway with book tokens as prizes. We thank Mr Brinsford for his excellent support.

This fits excellently with our 'fruit and veg' morning snack policy and we now have 2 composting bins in the school grounds so that we can play our part in protecting the environment.

Four Goal Thriller! 25th November 2004 Top of page

St Andrew's were beaten at home by William Barnes, Sturminster last night. The team played excellently and have a chance for revenge in the return leg on 2nd December.

Match Report
The "A" team from Sturminster Newton came to our school on the 25th November and produced one heck of a game. In the first half the two sides were fairly evenly matched until Yetminster came onto the counterattack thanks to a marvellous pass by Tom James which found James Readfearn in a yard or two of space and he converted a spectacular rocket shot which thundered into the top right hand corner. After that a sloppy Yetminster goal kick led to a Sturminster chance which they took in style. Half time score 1-1. After the break two subs took place, Toby Dennett (Man of Match) came off for Chris Justice and Ed Clark for Michael Griffin. But alas, unfortuanately afterwards we conceded two goals.Full time score 1-3.

Fruity Day Top of page

On Wednesday 24th November we launched our Fruit and Vegetable initiative by holding a 'fruity' day which was full of healthy eating activities for all.
From this date onwards, the mid morning snack which has been extended by 5 minutes, will be a 'fruit and vegetable only' zone. We believe that these measures will contribute greatly to the well being of all staff and pupils.
If the first day is anything to go by, the initiative will be a great success. See the Activities page for photos of the day.

Football v Bishop's Caundle Top of page

Our Year 5 and First teams travelled to Bishop's Caundle and came away with two excellent victories. Below are two match reports written by the captain and vice captain of each team.

First Team
An extravagant win for the Yetminster first team as they performed a 7 goal thriller against Bishops Caundle.Tom James set them of with a well taken goal from outside the area , only to be followed by a hatrick by James Readfern. After the break Yetminster looked even more impressive with another goal from Readfern.Toby Dennett made it 6 five minutes from time .Just before time Tom James got his name on the scoresheet again .A good win for Yetminster.
by James Readfern and Tom James.

Year 5
An excellent win for St Andrew's school year 5 team as they performed a 9-1 win. Josh Hart started us with the first goal from outside the area then came 1 goal from Nathan Crumpler. Unfortunately for us they scored from a cross. We then finished the game with 2 goals from Robert Hardy and a disallowed one from Archie Goodall.

We intend to use the Roundhouse for a number of purposes when it is completed in the Spring of 2005. However, contrary to village rumour there is no intention to use it as either a new staffroom or Headteacher's study!!!
