A YEAR OF ACHIEVEMENTS !!

During this academic year there have been many opportunities to celebrate success both for students and for the whole school. A brief snapshot of some of these achievements is given below.

May I wish you all an enjoyable and relaxing summer break. We look forward to the return of our students on Tuesday 9th September and to welcoming our new Y7 group.

Ian Campbell

Artsmark Silver Award for KA

This prestigious award is given to schools that provide strong evidence of excellent 'arts' provision across both key stages. It also encourages schools to work in partnership with artists and arts organisation. Earlier this month Mark Tinsley and Helen Perrow attended the award ceremony in Exeter. We were requested to perform a dance routine. Students who had worked with Helen Perrow in class and with Chloe Knapp (Dance Artist in Residence at Whitstone School) gave a stunningly choreographed and performed version of Avril Lauigne's 'complicated'.

Investors In People

The School's Investors in People status has been reaffirmed by our assessor at the three yearly review. He was particularly impressed by our collaborative approach and the school's commitment to learning.

DESIGN TECHNOLOGY— clocks with a difference

Mr Agnew accompanied 35 KA students to 'The Crest Innovation Awards' - Creativity in Science and Technology at Explore@Bristol. They joined students from 30 other schools - all of whom had been challenged to produce unusual clocks.

All KA students scored 60% and were awarded a silver certificate - quite an achievement in itself - not every school that entered received certificates.

Three of our students each achieved 3 out of a possible 4 awards and were very close runners up to the eventual winner, Wellington School.
