  Course Notes

In Years 7, 8 and 9 students follow the French schemes of work published by the DfEE and QCA. Throughout Year 8 students will cover topics such as countries & capitals, the future tense, going out, food and fashion.

We aim to develop students’ confidence and fluency in French and to develop their comprehension skills forming a sound basis for further study at KS4 and beyond.

French contributes to the key skills of ICT, communication, application of number, working with others, improving their own learning and performance, problem solving, thinking skills and citizenship.

Homeworks may include written exercises, research and learning and memorising language off by heart. It is essential that all students have access to a bilingual French-English dictionary at home and that they are encouraged to view the subject positively. Regular vocabulary tests are a feature of French lessons so it would be of great value to help your child by testing them.
