Dear Parents
Another busy year is almost over. I would like to thank you for your continuing support and to wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable
Summer holiday.
We say goodbye to our Year 6 children at the end of this term and we wish them every success and happiness in their new schools.
We have some important dates for your diaries at the end of this edition of the Huish headlines.
Yours sincerely
V E CAMPBELL
Headteacher
Football Legacy
We recently received a generous gift of £500 from the will of Mr 'Pop' Warren, who was a pupil many years ago at Huish. He obviously
remembered Huish School with great affection and has asked that his gift be used for either a trophy or to promote football within the school.
Music Tuition
If your child is interested in learning a musical instrument or joining a vocal group next term, please contact Greig Evans at Somerset
Music on 01823 356628 for information regarding fees and availability of places in the various sections (brass, woodwind, string, vocal
etc).
Blooming News
I would like to congratulate Alex Mosdell who was the area winner of the National Junior Petunia Competition. Alex attended the BBC Gardeners'
World Live Show in Birmingham as part of his prize for growing the best petunia with his mother and Mrs Dulwich. They had a lovely day and
Alex was one of the 150 winners out of 45,000 entries across the country.
We look forward to all the prizewinners in Year 4 and Year 5 having success in growing their pumpkins – congratulations to them!
Our thanks to Mr Tony Target of South Somerset District Council who generously donated flowering plants to the school to enhance our
school grounds.
Staff News
We welcome Miss Stott back to school this week following her maternity leave. I would like to thank Mrs Bland for all her help and expertise
over the last two terms and am delighted that she will continue her work with us throughout next year.
We say goodbye to Mrs Robson at the end of this term. We are really sorry to lose her from our staff but her husband's job is moving
to Staffordshire. Mrs Robson has been a valued Lunchtime Supervisor and Classroom Assistant, and we will miss her from our team.
Mrs Carol Geary
Many of you will remember the very sad time in 2001 when Mrs Geary, one of our Lunchtime Supervisors, died. The children have recently been
working on a beautiful wall hanging in memory of her. We will be holding a special assembly this term to mark the completion of this and
we are delighted that Mr Geary, Gemma and Brendan will be with us to share this special occasion. We will also be placing a bench in our
sensory garden, which has been bought by staff and governors in memory of her.
Calling All Keen Sportsmen and Women
Have you got any sporting skills you can pass on to the children? Can you spare an hour at lunchtime or after school?
We are looking for any willing adults to help us in our extra-curricular clubs (football, rugby, cross country, netball etc) from September.
If you are able to help, please leave your name and contact number at the school office. All help will be gratefully received.
